Homecoming week is already here! Wow! It’s only four weeks into the new semester at Lyons Middle/Senior and there is already so much going on. Spirit Week is in full swing, the hallways are all decorated, and there are plenty of ways to get involved and celebrate your Lyons Lions!

If you want to help the kids dress up, Ski Vs. Beach day is on Thursday and Neon Class Color Day is on Friday the 8th. Seniors and staff wear pink. Juniors and 8th grade students should put on their favorite bright greens. Sophomores and 7th graders get neon orange for their color and the Freshman and 6th graders should wear yellow.

Hopefully you were able to catch the homecoming softball game on Tuesday and the volleyball game on Wednesday. If you didn't, there is a softball/volleyball doubleheader on Thursday starting at 3pm. The big football game is Friday at 7pm. At halftime they’ll introduce the homecoming court and royalty.

For Seniors, don’t forget the class lunch, wall signing, and auction are on Friday. A favorite auction item is the Lunch FastPass. It lets you cut to the front of the line for 30 days. Then, on Friday, there’s the spirit dress up, where the middle schoolers dress up the seniors and students vote on ‘best dressed’. To finish the school day, everyone from 6th to 12th gets to take part in the pep assembly and class olympics!

Don’t forget the homecoming parade is after school on Friday at 3:45pm. Students and alumni are encouraged to line the streets and cheer on our Lyons Lions. The route is from McConnell to 2nd (around Bohn Park) and back.

Finally the dance is on Saturday the 9th from 8 to 11pm. The theme this year is Enchanted Forest! Sophomores (and their parents or guardians) who want to help decorate Saturday morning should contact Frankie Crispino at [email protected].

Tickets for the dance are available until Friday. They are $15 each. If anyone wants to invite someone to go with them that does not go to the middle/senior there is a permission form that has to be filled out by Thursday. If you haven’t done this before, you need to get a signature from the other student’s school administrator in addition to their parents. So be prepared and leave yourself enough time for that.

What a great week! Special thanks to the teachers, administrators, staff, students, and volunteers who help make each day so magical and fun. You are amazing!
